So which of the DS3P or the DS4?? I will be using it with E6600 and a 8800GTS but would be tempted to overclock slightly.

Suggestions please, Im only looking at Gigabyte since they seem to have the best support for Vista 64bit

DS3P has every feature of the DS4 as far as I can see, plus it now has the native 1333MHz strap so I would go for that every time. Cheaper too.

I'd go for the DS3P as it seems easier to overclock if you're not sure what you're doing. Also native 1333 FSB support will come in very handy in the future. :)

Sorry to sound awkward, but with an E6600 you'll get a better overclock out of an Asus P5B tbh.

Why? Aren't they the same chipset? I've seen people recommend 975 series boards for 4Mb cache Core2Duo's but not the P5B. Did you mean the P5W?

That Asus board is not good as done not support 64bit Vista from what I can work on from the Asus site since there is a P5B-Vista Premium which is a different SKU,

I had an ASUS P5B and what a pile poo, using a DS4 now and I'm over the moon with it.

I say the P5B was poo because when I updated the bios the stupid thing wouldn't see my DVD drives and there were a few othe bios issues if I remember correctly.

I've upgraded the bios in this DS4 a few times and no problems.

Typical isnt it, you come to place the order and they run out of stock of the DS3P. I did notive a DQ6 in the clearance section, my question is is it a retail box or just a mobo in a a/s bag with no cables, cds etc??

Also the BFG 8800GTS OC2 640Mb says it needs a 16x PCI-E slot will that work fine in either the DS3P or the DS4?

Kimbie

Both have a 16X PCI-E slot I believe though the 8800 series still run in 4X slots they just won't run as fast.
