Hi All

Just a quick throw out for ideas, just been sat at my desktop PC and whilst typing it also seemed to be adding the - (Minus) sign, It seemed to be the numbpad - as when i tried to press this it would not work, thinking it was the keyboard (USB Saitek) shutdown the pc unplugged the keyboard and plugged in a standard ps2.

Rebooted the pc and t would not post (got as far as the bios revision F3), pulled the bios battery and now all it does is go to the giggabyte splash (previously switched off) screen and nothing else, no beeps no keyboard action, nothing just splash screen.

Any Ideas?

The main board is a Gigabyte 965P-DS3P rev 3.3 <--- You recon this is goosed?

Cheers

Try a minimal boot, unplug everything except for for one stick of ram, h/d, vidcard and psu obviously. Try that and see if that gets you into windows:)

Nope same, just get the same thing, Splash screen, no beeps and no keyboard response.
Ill fire a mail off to Gigabyte, any one know how long the warranty for the mobo's are? Only had it since March 2007.

Cheers

3 years.

Can you get into the BIOS and have you tried pressing the tab or ESC key to get behind the splash screen to see if the board has actually started to boot?

Nope cannot get into Bios, the keyboard does not respond, as I doint think it is getting far enough to enable this.

I remember b4 I reset the cmos (when the splash screen was disabled) that the screen would come on as usual but where is normall checks ram displays cpu hard drives etc it was not getting this far it displayed just the MOBO version and Bios version and did not go any further than this.

An example of what I mean is below (obviously this is a generic pic of the net) but basically mine would load like this and just display the 06/19/2002 for KT-333 ......etc line (but with my mobo spec) with nothing underneath.

Looking at this pic it is the cpu that is tested first so maybe the CPU has gone?

Well I left the mobo battery out all last night and have just got in form work, popped the battery back in and turned on the PC, it went to a cmos error screen with 2 options, defaults or last known good, chose Last known Good and hey presto its working again.

Not changed a thing other than leave it unplugged all night with the battery out :-)
Strange things happen I suppose, thanks for the reply's, Ill see how it go's and post again if it dies on me :-)

For now I just will not reboot
