Hi all,
After checking on line I'm confused.
I have 8 gig of OCZ ddr 2 6400 memory.
I was wondering if my motherboard would support ddr3 ? I think it does ?
I was thinking of selling the ddr2 and replacing it with ddr3.
If my motherboard supports ddr3 which is the best to go for ?
Thanks in advance.

I read on line that it supports up to 8gb of ddr2, and 4gb of ddr3.
Bugger.
Are there any motherboards that support an Intel Q9550 and ddr3 ?

Thanks for the replies guys.

In that case if you want an upgrade would suggest selling the motherboard and CPU at the same time. You can get good money for the Q9550 and P35 boards, without having to add much extra money in you could buy an i5 2500K, P67 board and a set of DDR3.

However, I would definitely not suggest swapping s775 motherboards purely due to DDR3 prices.

Which version of the gigabyte DS3R do you have? the GA-P35C-DS3R and 1-2 other of the DS3 boards do support both DDR2 and DDR3 tho I don't think its worth changing, you won't notice any performance difference and any money you make is likely to be a couple of quid or so.

Ok thanks for your help, I will look into the prices for my cpu, motherboard and ram on the bay.

Would be great if I could sell my current stuff and get a relatively free upgrade.

Thanks again.

Yeah Its the GA-P35c-DS3R Version 2.
As for money, thought I would be able to buy some ddr3 and sell the dd2 and make a profit.
Oh well.

Just took the side off my case and it appears my motherboard is a GA-P35-DS3R.
Which does not have the green memory slots, just red and yellow so no DDR3 support.
Thanks for all your help and input guys.
Will be saving penny's to change motherboard, cpu and memory.
