Gigabyte Dual Power System

Hi There was just a power cut at my flat. I have surge protected sockets but no UPS so the computer went off.

After wards the machine would not switch on. I have a gigabyte board with a dual power system daughter card.

The power cut seems to have killed the daughter card. If I remove the card the machine starts.

Do I need it?

I've never tried it myself, but as far as I know it should work ok without it.

It might depend on the board though.

My Gigabyte 8KNXP at work (formally my home one) works fine without it. IIRC it's supposed to aid overclocking, but it was just a noisy annoyance to me.
