Gigabyte EP45-UD3P - new king?

Hello All

I saw information on Gigabyte forum that using GA-EP45-UD3P they reached world record in overclocking (670 MHz FSB and 1508 MHz for DDR2) and beaten Asus Rampage Extreme.

Wondering which memory they choose to have such result...

Never mind the motherboard... theres very few CPUs and even less RAM that can run those speeds stable with any realistic life span.

Looks like they were using team xtreme memory... probably D9 based...

People have had D9GMH up over 1600MHz on suicide shots - I've had 1333 stable myself from 6400HZ kits but they don't last long at those speeds.

yeah, more you overclock something the lesser the lifespan becomes, so at those speeds, wont be running like that for very long

Just bought the UD3R for my sons PC, nice board for £95 once those silly heatsink caps came off. Booted straight up with a E8400 E0 at 4Ghz mostly Auto settings. Tempted to crank it up, wonder if my boy will mind...

If you were wondering about cooler clearance, this is a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 fits no problems.

The whole purpose of passive heatsink fins is to use heat convection to move air up across the surface and they go and stick a great big cap on em. Patently stupid tbh, especially just for looks.
