Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Crossfire

I just opened the box and it has come with a 2 way SLI connector bridge and a 3 way SLI connector bridge. Do I need to buy something separate to crossfire my cards or can I use the SLI bridge thing?

What graphics cards are you going to be using?

SLI is Nvidia's multiple gpu set up and Crossfire is AMD/ATI's.

Edit: You will need to get a Crossfire bridge, if you didnt get one with your graphics cards.

Crossfire connector has a slightly wider connector. They are not interchangeable. :(
 
I am going to be using two 6950's, why did they only include a two way sli and a 3 way bridge then with the mobo? ffs....typical.
 
The crossfire connector should be in the box. I am sure you have looked carefully but go have another look. The little packet is slightly smaller than the SLi cable and the actually ribbon connector is wrapped in bubble wrap inside that clear plastic packet.

Actually I stand corrected. No the UD5 does not come with a crossfire bridge. I have just checked my box and the manual.

But my HD 5870 graphic card did come with a crossfire bridge.
 
No motherboards that I know of come with a xfire bridge, only SLI. Xfire cables are included with the GPU's themselves.
 
Check the graphic card that you are buying - contents of the box is often included on some of the vendors web pages. Maybe you do not need to worry.
 
crossfire problems using PCI-E x 8 lane

got the same board and just crossfired 2 x 6970 on the top 2 pci x 16 slots but was a little concerned about temps etc, the case is an 800d. temps during intense gameplay mid 70s and other card about 65 c. there is a very small gap between both cards so i decided to move the second card to the pci x 8 slot at the bottom of the board.

the only problem is that i can't get the card to fit in the slot fully because of the pwr/led header switches at bottom of the board next to the front usb headers. i unplugged the front usb headers and the pwr/led headers and this allows me to plug the card in fully but this wont allow me to power up the pc as the pwr header is unplugged. i think this is a design flaw on the ud5 and i can't see a work around other than keep both cards together in slots 1 and 2 and monitor temps or get a new board with better pci-e spacing? anyone got a workaround re the pwr/led header blocking the pci-e x 8 slot when a card is fitted?
