Gigabyte EX58 UD5... flash bios?

Hello folks
Just about to put my new system together now, and since this is the first system I've ever built I am very aware of any warnings I see in the various component documents.
One such warning is the recommendation not to flash bios unless encountering a specific problem.
I like the idea of being up to date with everything but if this is risky maybe I'll stick with the current ones (I haven't seen what version they are yet as I've only just started putting everything together).
What do you all think? If the general consensus are that that current bios are problem free then I'll stick with them.
Any opinions on this much appreciated :)
Thanks

Pretty hard to **** up flashing a UD5. The utility for it is very good, and if you manage to write nonsense to the chip or turn off your computer partway through it just copies the bios over from the back-up chip.

May as well I suppose. I wouldn't flash to a beta to be up to date though. Congratulations on picking the UD5, I can't really fault my one. Pushing 4.4ghz with the F7 bios so it can't be that bad.

Patented DualBIOS with dual hardware BIOS protection
Can also see them both just to the left of the floppy connector, they're referenced in the manual on page 7.

I believe it's difficult but not impossible to flash the back up bios. Main attraction is flashing the bios to things which may or may not work, say the UD5 extreme version, and lack of fear of power cuts.

Is anyone running the F9e BIOS? If so, does it reduce the delay during the POST when you have AHCI/RAID enabled - I find this takes far too long on the UD5 with F7 compared to all my other boards, albeit not x58s.

I've just seen at POST that my mobo has the F7 bios.
As the only ones after this are still at beta stage, I think I'll stick with F7 for now.
As a matter of interest though, what problems were remedied by moving from F7 to F9e?
A slow boot with AHCI enabled, mentioned above?
Any other annoying F7 idiosyncrasies I should look out for?
Thanks

I've had no problems with F7, other than the slow AHCI/RAID screen.

I'd recommend you get your machine built up, nice and stable and then think about updating the BIOS if needed then.
