Hi - over the last month or so I have been experiencing an intermittant problem with my rig - when running long encoding jobs, I've been turning off my Dell 3008WFP screen to save power, when I return an hour of so later I switch the screen back on and cannot get a signal via DVI. The Dell 3008 gives me a no signal message, it requires a reboot of the PC to cure.
This week the same thing occurred, except this time a reboot does not cure the problem, I am unable to get any signal to the Dell 3008, not even for BIOS postings. I have reseated the graphics card (OCUK 8800GTX), reset CMOS, unplugged the X-Fi + Wireless cards + storage harddrives, but with limited success. I managed to get a signal to DVI2 on the Dell once (then switched lead to DVI 1 while it was on - that worked also), but when rebooting the PC, this was lost again. The PC powers up OK, all fans on, graphics card has power (fan spinning), I can hear the hard drives spinning, so don't think it is the power supply (Enermax Noisetaker 600w).
I even switched the graphics card to an old 7900GTO but again, no signal to the monitor. On the one occasion I did get into the BIOS, I ran a memory test on my 4x1GB Geil 6400 memory with no errors.
I'm beginning to think my motherboard is the problem! Perhaps the PCIE slot is cream crackered?
Any ideas?
