Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 not powering on

Hello everyone,

I have a friend who's run into a bit of problem with this motherboard. I've tried helping figure the problem which leaves us thinking it's either the motherboard or the CPU.
Okay so here's our problem:

The motherboard does not power on when the CPU cable from the PSU is connected to the mobo.
The motherboard does power on (CPU fan spins and PSU fan spins) when the CPU cable is not connected.

No burnt marks from the CPU socket and we checked to see if the CPU was the same but no marks left.
Tried a different power supply and CMOS reset with no luck.

Any suggestions?

what cpu are you using? you might need latest bios for newer cpu's

Also the revision is important. With the latest bios the rev1.0 supports up to FX-8350/Opteron 3280. Rev 4.0 supports up to FX-9590/Opteron 3280.
