just a quick question is this MB sata or sata ll, also is sata ll backwards compatible, have looked at specs and only says sata but just wanted to check.

It says Sata 3GB/s so my guess is SATA 2. SATA 2 will work in a "old" SATA slot though, just at slightly reduced speed.

Got the manual here and it says "4x SATA 3gb/s connectors supporting up to 4 SATA 3gb/s devices".

I'm running a SATA1 hdd on it so yes you are sorted.
