Hey all,

Im looking into a new build and have decided upon the GA-P67A-UD5-B3 motherboard and core i5 2500k. Im not sure about ram tho, i'd be looking for 4-8gb 1600mhz ddr3 and spending no more than 100 notes (preferably less).

Ive seen the Kingston HyperX 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM XMP X2 Grey Series, but not sure if this is compatable as its 1.65v and the motherboard supports 1.5v.....?

Can anyone enlighten me please..

cheers

Hello,

Most of the Ram will work if you undervolt them, but if you want RAM which will work straight out the box i'd reccommend

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-299-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

Firstly because i have them and they work well! but Also they are Corsair (Good Reliablity) and they are 'apparantly' designed for 2nd Second Generation Intel Core i series. Read more about it on the Link i posted above / review sites.

Only downside is the Heatsinks are very big and sometimes get in the way! with a Large CPU Cooler!

Hope this helps!

it certainly does, thank you.

i use corsair at the mo that have proved themselves to be reliable, i'll check out some reviews of those and my cpu cooler is noctua nh-u12p so should have no probs.

Just settled on a clock on my 2x4GB kit of G.skill 1600MHz Cl8 ripjaws. Got to say it's pretty great ram.

The Corasair XMS3 are low profile and have had lots of forum/overclockers success at runnning at 1.5V which is preferable in a sandy bridge setup.

I've set up 3 sandy bridge systems and used XMS3 in all 3 and so far all have proved to be rock solid at 1.5V.

Having said that any fo the memory listed above would also be more than capable - gurusan's G.skill being particualry impressive.
