Gigabyte's new entry model X58 with USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gbps is fully loaded with other features and at a much lower price than the higher end boards I personally think it's great value for money.

are this board good enough for 4ghz overclocked ? I just wish that all manufacturing of stop making floppy ide as we all don't use this anymore! waste of money for unused floppy ide on the board.

This board is good at cheap price but question is are these better than ex58 ud5 board ?

We have reached 4.00Ghz with these quite comfortably. :)

If it is better than the UD5 or not we will have to see, bit early in the game to call it at the moment.

nice price, was thinking of getting the new asus premium to get usb 3.0 ect but maybe this will do all i need and save me ~£100, need some reviews to read through

This sound to be good exspecially all of us (the i7 core member) will be able to grab the cheapest board but hopefully it will be better than UD5 board !

Wow, 4 Pci slots. Bit over kill:P
But doubt you'll be able to fit for cards in there.
Once again they didn't include the site of grahpics cards for this board.
Shame on them.

what do you mean? is this smth to worry about?

Most high end graphics cards are dual slot because of the coolers. But with three of the PCI-E x16 slots right above each other, if you really wanted 4 cards in SLI/Xfire, you would need to have a flat 1 slot card in two of the slots, three if you need to use the PCI slot for something like a wireless/sound card.

But on the other hand, where else can you put the slots? There's only a limited space, so there's not exactly much choice, is there?

ahh i see, thanks for the info. shouldnt interfear with my eventual 5870 x 2 setup

I disagree with this sentiment. I use a floppy drive and wouldn't be without it, dos on usb has proved far from reliable so far. I also use a pata optical drive occasionally, but sata optical drives are readily available so this is less important to me. USB floppy drives are an option, but I can't help but feel skeptical about booting from one.

Glad to see the UD3R's replacement has six dimm slots.

No word on the EX58A UD5 yet??

Gigabyte have it showing on their website, so I assume it will be hitting the shelves here soon?

We have it on test at the moment and it in overclocking and value terms is blown out of the water by the EX58a-UD3R. :)
