I might be upgrading to x2 HIS or ASUS 5870's and wanting to make sure if between the 2 are slimmer or if they will actually fit?

Seen the picture on the UD7 living review which is the same layout for the x16 PCIe connectors iirc with x2 5770's which looks like they don't fit o I'm worried!

Cheers

I had both my 5870s on mu ud5 v1 they do fit....however prob the worst board for xfire talking about 1-2mm from the top card so the air flow is blocked. when on load the fan get loud trying to cool itself down.

85c on the top card playing BFBC on stock. Only way i get temps down to to 80c was place a 120mm fan right on vents of both cards giving more air flow. This was in a Antec 1200.

Best move a made was the RE3 both cards load at 71c in this hot weather :)

Can't afford the RE3 otherwise I would have bought it, major suckage as apart from the poor PCIe layout the UD5 is an amazing board.

These are 2 5770's on the UD7 which is the same spacing on the PCIe connectors as the UD5 iirc, also checked the dimensions of the 5770 against the 5870 and they are identical so I'm worried... =(

i really wouldnt worry about it
i have 2 asus 5870's on my ud5, yeah there close, the temps are nothing to worry about either, 5 - 8 degs between them both at load

Just wanting to know if they sit flush when in the case though as that picture doesn't show it mounted.

How much performance would be lost running crossfire with one card in the top slot and one in the bottom 8x slot?

I have two 5850s and they fit together without issues, however given the benefit of hindsight I would get one of those fancy mobos with the autoswitching pci-e slots so I could space them out more and add third party cooling solutions more easily.
