Hi all

Been looking at the Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC. I'm also thinking of buying a 4770k cpu, I have a Corsair Hydro H100 Extreme arriving soon, psu is Antec High Current Gamer 750W Modular.

I got a Radeon 7990 GPU, would this board and cpu be a good match? I'll be looking to overclock the cpu as much as possible.

Any suggestions?

Thanks guys

You can't get any better then this board without spending another £100+ even then you only end up paying for features like the ability to run 4 independent GPU's.

Extremely highly recommended :)

I've been pondering a new pc build and I keep coming back to this board as it appears to be (judging from reviews and the owners thread) a genuinely great board, that overclocks very well and is stable.

+1 for the OC

Great board, the most affordable Z87 enthusiast board coupled with a UK RMA gives it a huge bonus!

Also the sweet orange theme we have only really started to see recently, getting a bit sick of blue/black and red/black, lets have some mad colours like magenta! (Magenta is the mans pink!)

Another vote for the Z87 OC from me - only had mine a couple of days so still getting used to it, but it is deffo a brilliant board for all the reasons as said above.

The Gigabyte OC is great for the price all the guys are spot on. On a par is the ASUS MVIG. But you cant argue about the value in this one with full ATX. Use X05 bios for teh best clocking options. That one has been developed by Team AU and tested to the highest possible spec.

Hi

Thanks, be pairing it with a 4770k on a H100 cooler, 7990 GPU

I ordered the board earlier, many thanks for the tip about the X05 bios I'll certainly flash it using that revision.

Cheers :)

Hi 8Pack,

I have X02 bios on mine - should I update to X05 also(mod2) Which is the quickest and easiest way to save the settings in bios to re apply after updating the bios? Can you PM me please if you get a moment - see my CS thread for more info.

Cheers

is this board ok for 2 card sli/cf ?
Yep, for two cards you use slots 1 and 3, which leaves a very nice gap between both cards. It's a much better spaced board for multi gpu than some of the more expensive boards from other vendors.

Agreed, loads of space but if you need to use the small express Slot then be careful as my dual slot graphics card covered it up.

thanks for reply mate, you have just about sold me one.was going to buy one of the £300 plus boards that have all the bells and whistles which i would most likely never use.:)
