I Just buit a new PC and am having loads of problems mainly with graphics.

Initiall I was getting a blue screen and then Windows wouldn't load, I had used an old HD with Windows 7.

I put up a post and had some excellent help as below....

yh you'll need to set sata ports from ahci mode to ide mode then it should let you boot into windows then you can run this reg tweak from within windows and reboot into bios set sata ports back to ahci mode and it wont bsod then

http://cdn.ithinkdiff.com/wp-content...09/05/ahci.reg

your old windows/install wont have the needed ahci drivers hence its bsod'ing and newer modern board default to ahci mode for the sata ports now

This seemed to fix things, but I continued to have problems loading Windows.

So I bought a new SSD and put a clean install of Windows 7 on it.

I have removed the Radion R 290 GPU to eliminate it.

Problems still continue the same using the onboard graphics.

I can hear the POST beeb but 50% of time there is no BIOS menu displayed and I just get a black screen. However, I do hear the windows tune so know the OS has loaded.

I plugged one screen into the D sub and one into the DVI -D and
reset the CMOS. Sometimes I get a display on both screen and sometimes only on the D sub.

Now the USB keyboard doesn't work, but a PS2 one does ( keboard tested in another PC and is OK).

After closing down the PC it doesn't boot properly unless I switch the power off first on the PSU!.

Is the mobo faulty or is there anything else I can try before sending it back to Overclockers ?

So this happens on both a discrete GFX card and the onboard solution?

Is your monitor ok?

Get the BIOS updated.

Download the latest from Gigabyte sites.

Extract the file onto a USB stick, and update using Qflash which you will find in the BIOS.

As this is a Gigabyte board could this be a bios incompatibility problem? Bios updates have solved most Gigabyte board/graphics card problems in the past and according to the cpu support list bios F5 is needed for the 4690k.

***Edit*** Bugger, beaten to it by Stulid. Teach me to start writing then going to check Gigabytes website half way through. :p

Is there a bios switch on the GFX card? some have two different BIOS (one for UEFI and the other for legacy BIOS).

So im clear,

Are you saying without the GFX card installed you are not getting a display while in the BIOS itself.

Sometimes when the PC boots, I hear the POST, but the Gigabyte BIOS screen does not display. Sometimes I just see the Windows logon, othertimes black screen but I hear the Windows music so know the os has loaded.

Hitting delete while booting sometimes get the BIOS screen other times nothing happens.

I tested the keyboard in another Pc and it was Ok. Put it back in this PC and drivers installed. So can remove keyboard issues :)

I am going to be boot a few times and see what happens.

Have re-boted several times and system seems ok .. Interestingly my Lenovo Keyboard, works on the External USB brackets ,and the four onboard USB3/2 ports but not on the two USB2/1 ports.

If it stays stable I will re install the GPU and will set the BIOS to display from the PCEIe 1 Slot, this should be the default.

If your RAM is not running at the rated speed then load the XMP profile and save+exit.

Hopefully thats the end of your problems.

Still getting intermittent lack of video on DVI -D , but seems ok on Dsub connector.

I have re set the CMOS again and removed the GPU.

Cable and monitor work fine on another PC, but I will buy another DVI - D cable tomorrow to be perfectly sure.

Had to abort a fresh install of Windows 8.1 because when the pc rebboted the DVI - D Dispaly failed to come back on, this is using the onboard graphics.

I believe I have fixed the problem. A simple fix but something for us all to be mindful of.

I only been pushing the DVI cable into the mobo socket, wiggling it I found the I suddenly got a picture on the screen. So the fix turned out to be simple. I screwed the cable in firmly and everything works a treat.

Spoke too soon.

Did a restart to update Windows. When the pc re booted, I got. POST beeb but no graphics. Tried several times but no bios display..

I am well fed up and will RMA the mobile
