Hi Guys,

I've just built a new system based around the Gigabyte GA_P35_DQ6 motherboard, and i thought i'd have a go at overclocking my quad extreme edition QX6700 as it's now being watercooled, but could really do with some help regarding what fsb to run or should i just up the multiplier ? also what voltages should i set in the bios? as at the moment its all set to auto.

spec of system as follows.

Thermaltake VD4000SWA LCS Aluminium Kandalf Full Tower
Gigabyte GA_P35_DQ6 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
OCZ 4 GB PC2-8500 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel DDR2 ram
EVGA GeForce 8800 GTX KO ACS3 SILENT 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI
Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer 7.1 Soundcard
Western Digital Raptor X 150GB sata drive
Samsung DVD re writer
Thermaltake 850w toughpower psu

Would appreciate any help anyone could give me :-)

Kind Regards N

in the tweaker set your memory to 2x ratio, this will underclock your ram, then start increasing your fsb i started straight in at 300 and then went up in 5's from there, each time boot up into windows and run orthos to check the system. If it becomes unstable try upping the cpu voltage one step. Once you have the speed your after then you can either overclock your memory or try to get it as close to its speed as possible using the different ratios.

Thanks for the reply mate :-) ok will do that, what voltages should i set to start off with? also how are you checking your temps? i'm running vista 64 and core temp 95 acts really weird when i start it...basically have to re boot the computer.

you should be able to go quite far without touching any voltages. I think its speed fan or something like that im using for temps, or the software that comes on the driver disk is as accurate.
