Ay up..

Quick question for anyone with the knowledge out there.

Basically, my bi-yearly upgrade is looming and I like the look of the Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R. Now, i've just brought my self a little amp for my entertainment setup and would like to use the same speakers for use with the PC.

The amp has a couple of digital inputs going spare, and the motherboard seems to have a digital optical out on its rear form the pictures I have found.. so can i just buy a optical lead and just plug it into the motherboard and into my amp and hear full surround sound as you would with an x-fi blah blah sound card with dedicated PC speakers.

Cheers

ah excellent.. so if a game has EAX or an avi has a DTS track, it'll work fully.

Good stuff

Cheers

EAX is exclusive to Creative is it not? So what makes you think EAX will work through an onboard sound card?

Your method will only work if the onboard sound on the Gigabyte will decode Dolby on-the-fly (not sure that it will). Otherwise you'll have to hook up the analogue and digital connections to the amp and change source when you watch movies / play games.

Yes EAX is exclusively Creative...
