Yo guys, never normally in this section of the forum but building my own PC and could do with a couple of questions answering:

I'm going to get the Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R Motherboard and need to know which cables I need to buy to plug in the following products to the mother board:

1) Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB ST3320620AS SATA-II

2) Two LiteON DH-20A1P-45C 20x DVD±RW x12 Ram Dual Layer DVD-Writers

Everything above is being sold OEM

I've seen that you can buy IDE cables for the CD drives but from pictures, it looks like there is only 1 IDE port on the mobo, so what do I do about that? When I stripped down my old Dell, I took out an IDE cable which had 2 connectors on it and 1 going into the mobo, would I be able to use that?

Also, would I need to get an eSATA to SATA cable for the Hard Drive as it's SATA II?

Sorry if the questions sound a bit noobish, but it's my first custom build lol.

Cheers in advance.

All the cables you need come with the motherboard

1 IDE and 6 SATA IIRC.

You'll need to get a SATA->IDE converter or something for your second DVD drive.

EDIT

Actually, you won't need a converter. You'll just need to use one of the IDE cables with two connectors on.

The board comes with a 2 connector IDE cable and several SATA cables.

You can run both IDE optical drives from the one port using the supplied IDE cable.

Hi mate,

I just bought this board myself. It comes with 4 SATA cables, 1 IDE cable and a floppy cable. You shouldn't need anything else. Just make sure you have SATA power cables in case your hard drives don't have a normal molex port.

The IDE cable you get is no where near long enough to reach most DVD/CD drives as it is in a really stupid position. I am actually using an old IDE cable as the one that came with the board wouldn't reach. Even the one I had is really stretched and it cuts out some of the SATA ports. Honestly, I really can't understand the positioning of this!

Good luck ;)

yep it comes with all the cables you need. Although i replaced them with blue uv rounded ones to make my case look nice because im a tart :p.

Also the standard ribbon cable wouldnt reach to the top of my case for both my drives to be plugged in!
