Gigabyte GA_X38_DQ6 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard anyone using one?

I have one . well actually on the second one as the first one wouldnt boot and RMA'd.

Having a few problems with is running Geil memory as 1066 apart from that its been stable.

Hard to say at the moment because of DDR3 availability and variety.

Read a thread comparing the R.O.G P35 and X38 DDR2 boards and there was really nothing in them at all.

So the main difference would be memory bandwidth of the DDR3 if you can get hold of some good modules but would be costly.

sounds kinda hot, what cooling?

This temp it the same I get on the P35-DQ6, but as seems usual with temperature monitor different programs as showing different values

At the moment Easytune shows motherboard temp of 38c while everest shows a temp of 9c so hard to know which is accurate

What's the benefit of this motherboard over a cheaper P35-based model like the P35C DS3R?

It is hard to see the benifits of the X38 over the P35 since I have both a X38-DQ6 and a P35-DQ6 and havent yet seen any improvements, in fact I have had more problems with the X38 version so far, its unable to use Geil 8500 Black dragon at 1066

Same as the X38 I got. Just went for an IP35 Pro instead.

The second one I got booted fine but the first attempt at setting up the memory to 1066 caused a power up down loop which looks like a bios problem I have new tried the new beta bios release and still the same problem , I was looking to get some of the gigabyre QVL 1066 memory but the type I wanted is out of stock at OCUK.

I hopefully will be getting an RMA replacement soon for my first board and I can build up a test rig rather than to keep experimenting on my working X38.

The Gigabyte X38 BIOS thread over at XS seems to show the board getting better with every BIOS release.

And they're testing the F5 betas already.

I am running the F5g Beta bios, I was hoping for a fix to my Geil 1066 problem but still have the same issue.
