Gigabyte GeForce GTS 450 OC HDMI connection not working?

Mini HDMI to VGA?

How does that work?

HDMI is a purely digital signal and VGA is analogue.

You're much better off connecting using DVI-D or a DVI-I to VGA adapter.

Shall I just buy a DVI-D to HDMI connector?

From what I can see of those cables they only work the other way around.

They connect VGA from the graphics card to HDMI on the display provided the graphics card supports digital signal output through the VGA port.

I don't get why you want to use the HDMI connection?

A simple adapter like I pictured above will enable you to connect to the VGA connection on the monitor. Every graphics card I've bought in recent years had one in the box. Didn't one come with your card?

A simple DVI cable, like this, will connect DVI to DVI if you don't have a DVI cable already.

You would need a DVI-D cable not DVI-I.
