Hi There!
I purchased a Gigabyte GTX 770 OC 2GB GDDR5 7000MHz, about 2 months ago from ****** (Usually use Overclockers, can't remember what my decision was for doing this at the time!). I was getting one to replace my GTX 580.
Anyway, it arrived, I installed it, installed drivers etc. Everything was fine for a while, until I started getting random black screen crashes, where the sound would loop/distort and I would have to hard reboot my system. I had never experienced anything like this before installing the 770.
I stuck with it, as I had read it could be a driver issue, but after several driver releases, the issue persisted. Wondering if it was a PSU issue, I double checked what I had and found it to be a OCZ ZX Series 850W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply, which I was assured would be perfectly fine.
I have issued an RMA with ****** as of today, as I'm assuming it's a faulty card, but I just wanted a second opinion before I send it off and have them tell me it's fine or something!
Just to note, the system I'm using is actually the "Ultima Tyrannosaur" Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz bundle, which I purchased from OCUK back in September 2011. I've made no changes except for that card upgrade and an additional 2TB HDD installation.
One thing I did notice, was that when the 770 was installed, the front LED on the case went from white, with some flashing red (HDD activity I'm guessing?), to pure red flashes and no white.. I spoke to an OCUK tech and they said it's just HDD activity still and nothing to do with PSU usage, but after just re-installing my 580, it's pure white again .. so I'm a bit confused/concerned there.
Apologies if this is a bit of a mess, I'm just a bit frustrated with everything and would appreciate anyone else's input!
Just FYI, I had checked all temps and load etc, everything was fine, no overheating.
