Gigabyte GTX 770 WindForce Length Issues

Is it wishful thinking that I’ll be able to fit the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 WindForce in my Lian Li PC-7FNWX.

The Windforce card is 292mm long, the case allows for a max of 290mm near the disk cage area and 430mm above.

Dam you extra 2mm!

The reason I query is the top PCI-E slot on my MB falls in-between these two zones, if the longest part of the card is at the top near the PCB I’ll be ok.

*Edit* From this side profile shot its actually longer at the bottom so its definitely going to cause issues. Dam.

Any advice would be super appreciated :-)

I would just get out a hammer and a hacksaw and smash through whatever part of the case is in your way.

I had trouble getting big cards in my cm scout but 20 mins bashing away and now anything fit's in.

I will post a pic up but I'm worried people might get jealous of my ultra tidy setup.

Hope this helps

Some bashing and hacking skills there :) Thanks for posting

I just got excited again as many reviews of the card have listed the length to be 11.1 inches / 282mm this would actually fit in my case!

Is the Gigabyte website wrong listing it as 292mm or the other way round?

Im specifically after the 4GB version but the length is the same on both.

If someone could measure their card or have any other ideas that would be super awesome.

Toms Hardware Review Lists 282mm http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-770-gk104-review,3519-28.html

Listed as 28cm here http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Gigabyte/GeForce_GTX_770_WindForce_OC/4.html

Silly question but have you actually measured the space available or are you just going by the spec sheet?

I was only going by the spec sheet for the case so good question.

Just measured the area and its bang on 290mm.

Having a closer look at the drive cage I thought it was riveted but its removable.

I’m starting to wonder if the dimension specs for the Windforce card are incorrect or exaggerated. http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4647#sp

For example a reference GTX 780 is a 266.7 mm / 10.5 inch card.
http://www.evga.com/products/pdf/03G-P4-2783.pdf

Same for the reference GTX 770 266.7 mm / 10.5 inch
http://www.evga.com/products/pdf/02G-P4-3771.pdf

Now when you look at the specs for the reference Gigabyte GTX 780 the length jumps to 282 mm / 11.1 inch
Where did the extra 15mm come from as this is an identical card??
http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4622#sp

If this is also true for the Windforce GTX 770 the quoted 292mm should be nearer 277mm or just under 11 inches. This would fit perfectly in the 290mm space I have available in my case and explain the mixed information on dimensions from review sites such as Toms Hardware.

The EVGA GTX 770 Classified is another option for the 4GB 10.5 inch cards but the price is fairly high.

Really would be great if someone could measure the length of their Windforce Cooler :) The is certainly the card I would prefer.
