Hi.
I recently bought from overclockers, a Gigabyte Gtx 960 model GV-N960OC-4GD card with windforce twin fan.
My system is a Dell Studio XPS 435 MT, Windows 7 x64, Intel i7 920, 12 GB crucial ballistix tactical 1600mhz running at 1066mhz and EVGA 500w bronze 80 plus psu.
Above card was making noise every 20 to 30 seconds and fan rpm was everywhere on idle. Fan rpm was fluctuating between 835 to 3000 and sometime giving 6 figure reading eg 811000rpm. . Customer service suggested capacitance noise and asked me to return it.
I got the replacement yesterday and it is doing exactly same thing as the first one. Luckily this time I found the fault, it is fan not the capacitence noise. On idle fan is running(supposedly) at 23%, GPU temp. around 30 degrees celsius but fan rpm is going berserk making the noise.
The log file is quite big so I am just writing the fan speed rpm, GPU core clock was at 135mhz and memory clock at 202.5mhz. GPU temp started at 23C then 29C to 31C
RPM at 1 second intervals: 2231, 2205, 1884, 2946, 2017, 594059, 3007, 405405, 910, 1961, 540541, 722892, 1079, 1650, 2540, 1340 and so on.
Does this mean that there is fault with gigabyte windforce fan that it can not stay stable at idle speed or is it just me being unlucky twice.
Can you guys help me with this please. Should I just return this card and get the refund and buy some other make or is there a solution.
First card I had for a week and this one for 1 day.
