Hello everyone,

I need some help i recently like few days ago bought a
Gigabyte gtx 1050 ti for games like wow and doom etc..
Ive noticed tho, when the fan kicks on it makes this sort of rattle or clicking noise just for a second then its gonea, but also when the fan suddently stops spinning it also does it..
I also hear it when i boot pc and when i shutdown pc..
What kind of worksa is creating my own fan curve so its always running since it only happens during kick on and off but its still there when, shutting down pc..
I also googled this and it seems a very widespread easy among most gigabyte geforce gtx 10*** series users is this true??
So a direct replacement would be waste and be the same issue??
Plz help

Edit: damn i noticed just now it does it even if its low rpm too i have set at 20% fan says 800rpm and it makes this noise but at 35% fan its totaly gone

Thanks

It sounds a bit like the fan may be unbalanced, more mass one on side of the fan than the other, and at certain low revs it is enough to move/vibrate the fan to contact something. Much like an unbalanced car wheel causing oscillations.
There are methods to balance R/C aircraft props but it might take a bit of googling to find a way to do it to a card fan.

Also i checked tthe see if the blades was touchin anything and they dont so its not contacting anything tho its strictly the motor i think also when i google and youtube it people with gigabyte cards are having the same exact noise as mine so if i exchanged it for the same one will i have have this problem again?i wanna fix it tho if i exchange it it wont help since its so common with these cards?

Below is a video thats the problem i have
Video of the same exaxt noise:

Can you isolate the specific fan that causes the noise by holding one of then getting them to run. Is there an excessive amount of play in the vertical axis on the one that's causing the noise. Try a 10mmx10mm square of insulating tape on one of the blades and then move the square of tape to the other blades to see if it gets quieter.

Its a single fan card..
Also what you mean excessive amounts of play?
I checked the fan blade looks completely fine also its not loose or anything..
Would returning it and getting a replacement be waste of time?
Because i can only exchange for a new one but the same exact card so im thinking if i do that that card will have the problem too since its super common..
It seems like anyone who buys a recent series graphics card from gigabyte makes this noise even the have brand new 2000 series does it..
So direct replacement is not really an option?? Money back wont happen either..
Here below are 2 examples again of the brand new RTX 2080 cards from gigabyte same issue again..
So this is defently the way the motor is build and makes this noise atre low RPM..
So does this mean a direct exchange is most likely not going to fix it
Chance is high ill get same one again?

If the fan has excessive amounts of play along the spindle/motor axis, if the fan is stopped then the motor's magnetic force can hold the fan in one position. When the fan spins it tries to pull away from the motor and may foul something as it moves down and away from the motor.
Chances are that if you RMA you could get another noisy card, but if you contact the retailer you may be able to get a similar model. You may have to go through the RMA process before you can demand a refund or alternative though.

The thing is i dont want my money back i want the card =/ i want to game with it also if i rma and get the same model back chances of it being noisey is high since its so common ,if i get my money back i end up with no card...
So should i just keep it then?
I could replace it for the same one but like you said it most likely be a noisey one too i think the motor is made like that?

I suppose a water block and accessories isn't an option?
lol? for a 1050ti? do blocks even exist for a 1050ti? not to mention it's a waste of money spending £200+ for a loop just to cool a 1050ti. if that was the case, OP should've gotten a 1070 instead of a 1050ti...

OP's card is practically new, and OP should RMA the card before taking it apart and potentially voiding the warranty if he breaks it accidentally.

Yes he should RMA it, but he also wants to game on it and not risk the chance on getting another duff one. He's had all the available options given to him so he needs to grab the bull by the horns and make a decision.

if you rma directly to Gigabyte , should take about a week normally , if you can get it sent to them in 24 hours - though its xmas period so guessing staff turn down is expected .
heck if you live near by pop it in lol

I rly dont think rma would do me any good..
I found out that almost every gigabyte model does it..
So if i rma i would just get another gigabyte 1050 ti probably with the same issue?
So its just a waste the chances of not happening are so small why even rma it then =/

And yes its only during start up and stopping

Edit:i just checked and they only do direct replacement for the same card,
Im not sure if this woukd help me ill most likely get the same problem again?
So yeah not sure what to do might have to keep it?

I had a noisy fan on a Gigabyte card and I really didn't want to RMA it, so I replaced it myself. If you are competant with a screwdriver it is actually easy to do and you can get hold of genuine Gigabyte fans on The Bay for about £4. Now this will of course void your warranty, but its a thought. Bear in mind if you mess it up it's a very costly mistake.
