Gigabyte H87-HD3 good for overclocking?

Can you even overclock on H87? I thought you needed Z87 to overclock? I know there was a "fix" to allow clocking on non Z series boards but the last i heard was that Intel was going to put a stop to that by issuing a "fix".

yes you can overclock it !!!!!

ram speed can go no higher than 1600mhz though but cpu can go 5ghz+

intel want to stop it by blocking the oc through bios's but its up to manufactures (asus/asrock/gigabyte ect) to implement it into the bios but they havn't so far:D

Vcore, cpu input voltage, cache voltage, cpu multiplier and cache multiplier are all that need tweaking really. It sounds complicated, and it is at first, but once you learn to overclock all over again it's easy enough and there are plenty to help you on here. Temps will probably be the limiting factor.
