Has any one had any problems with there 4870x2 where your pc screen would go blank or sometimes you will see artifacts in certain places?
temps are 82c on the hottest core using ati driver 08.12.
Im thinking its a driver issue with COD5 i have never seen it on anything else.
Any ideas?
 
Set fan to manual (40%-50%) in ATI Overdrive.
Loud, but temps should go down if that is indeed the problem.
If that doesn't help, reseat the card in a different PCI slot/same slot.
Other than that I don't really know.
 
same card having the same problem with the screen going blank in vista and some games now and again not having the artifacts thou as im watercooling my card so i dont think its a heat problem if this continues into the next driver release i think i will rma it
 
I've got a Gigabyte HD4870X2 using the 8.12 driver and I don't get any problems at all.

But I don't have CoD5 so I can't test that specific game.
 
Same here i have the card but not that game so maybe it is just something about cod5 as so far touch wood i havn't had any problems with my card have my fan set to 50 if that makes any odds.
 
i have the card but no cod5, no problems atm. will test it on a my challenging game like fallout 3 tonight
 
Well i do have cod4 and have played that all the way through and i did not get the problems you have m8 so i would say something on the card is duff maybe time for an rma.
 
ok need some advice here please. Im not sure if the card is faulty of if it is a driver fault.
Problems so far on COD 4 & 5: BSOD, screen going blank, recovering from atikmdag, graphical gliches.
any advice gents?
Will try going back to 8.11.

try cleaning out drivers again, with a driver cleaner (take caution with vista as apparently they dont work and will mess up vista).
 
Still at work been looking around the WWW. seems im not the only one with this problem.
I'm going to tinker with my FSB when i get home.
