hiya there, just a quick question. which one out of the two would be a better choice? they are similar in price. the gigabyte version is a reference design so can be unlocked, but the asus directcu runs cooler, probably cant be unlocked as its from a later batch.

I am only using one 24 inch monitor at the moment, play games at 1920 x 1080 resolution, planning to xfire in the next year or two.

i am curios at the performance difference between an unlocked 6950 running at 950mhz vs. direct cu at 1ghz? (is it common for directcu 6950 to reach this speed?) Also been reading about the directcu overclocking potential don't really have a linear scale against other reference cards.

your advice will be much appreciated. thanks

Not sure performance-wise, but I've read some great things on the Asus direct cu cooler.

Apparently while it does a good job lowering temps, it also runs surprisingly quiet which is a big plus imo

been reading aroind it is suggested that the disabled shaders can be compensate by 25-30mhz overclock. so fingers x i get a good directcu chip. also will prob hv a better resale value in the future.
