Just got this card and im having some issues with it. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-101-GI&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1699

The first issue ive noticed is the card remains at 1.2 volts solid and does not budge from that, even when idle. Core and memory clocks change but voltage remains solid. Is this correct?

I downloaded afterburner, voltage was greyed out even after unlocking. I then downloaded Gigabytes overclock tool, that had the option to change voltage. It only let me decrease voltage though, however according to gpu-z and its own monitoring system the voltage did not budge from 1.2

Next i tried trixx, again that allowed me to change the voltage but as far as i could see the voltage did not change from 1.2. All along GPU-Z was showing the voltage as 1.175 rather than 1.2.

Does anyone have this card who can share experiences? I understand revision 1 was the same card but with a higher core clock of 50mhz extra and a higher memory clock of 125mhz. Using gigabytes offical bios flashing tool i was able to update my bios but it made no difference. I tried flashing revision 1 bios using this tool but it failed. I could try using atiflash and forcing it, but im not sure about that.

On the current F72 bios i managed to get the clocks to 1075/1315 up from 1050/1125. The memory overclock was nice, was hoping for a bit more out of the core though. If only i could get the voltage to increase i think she'd go further.

Opinions, thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Is it causing any heat related issues?

I tried an older version of the gigabyte OC software and the voltage seems to be clocking down now. Doesn't seem like its possible to increase it past 1.2 though.

Temps are fine, really cool around 50c or below. I guess gigabyte have locked the voltage down on this card.

The option to tweak voltage is there, but it doesnt seem to do anything.

Built a system for a neighbour a few months ago, also with a 7770. Nearly sure that it was voltage locked as well. His model iirc.

Why not get her/(him?) a 7850?

Ah, I see. He wanted something his better half was used to handling.:p:D

Because its paired with an E4700 and DDR2 800mhz ram. The cpu is overclocked to 3.2ghz but it doesn't seem worth spending any more than that. Plus she only plays the sims 3 on there.

Anyone who gets this card, you need to use this version of Trixxx to over volt. This will allow you to increase stock voltage of 1.2 up to 1.35.

I settled on 1.3 volts 1200/1250, but can go up to 1.35 1250/1250. Seems even the Cape Verde cards overclock well if you have voltage control. Shame the card only has a 128bit bus, its really holding it back.
