Not sure if this should be in the sound section or the motherboard section but here goes.
I just finished building my PC and I've come up with a problem that a lot of people are apparently getting. My sound device is not recognized due to some stupid driver issue. I've searched the net and have been trying to fix it for the past 4 hours but I'm stuck and starting to get really ****** off.
What happens is that the 'Found New Hardware' pop-up comes up and says an audio device called MEDIA needs to be installed. If I click Automatically find drivers (with the motherboard CD I got in the tray), it finds nothing and fails to install.
In the device manager there is a device called 'Unknown Device' with a little yellow exclaimation mark in the Sound and Audio Devices section.. where I'd expect my working audio device to be. I cannot uninstall, delete or update this device. Everything I click doesn't do anything. I can click the buttons but nothing happens, if I click Uninstall the computer says "no" and comes up with a warning saying the device is needed to boot.
According to many solutions online, it is because I need to install a Microsoft High Definition Audio UAA Bus driver thing. THEN install the RealTek drivers. I've gone through uninstalling all traces of RealTek from add/remove programs. Then I restarted. Then I installed the UAA Bus Driver thing. Then I restarted. Then I go through the process installing the RealTek drivers once more and I get to 90% before an Error pops up saying 'RealTek HD Audio Driver Failure!'. I've done this about 4 times.
I've followed every 'solution' given here:

Which seemed to fix the problem for a few people.
I'm at a total loss as to what to do. I've got all the drivers I need but for some bloody reason this computer won't install them.
I just upgraded to Service Pack 3 too, just in case that would help. Nothing.
Anyone got any ideas?
(Also my upgraded new system is taking 6 minutes to load on the Windows XP loading screen when I start up. It used to take less than a minute with my crappy old processor and 1gb of RAM.. now it takes 6x as long with my super duper Phenom and 4gb of RAM)
