Gigabyte non-reference 7970 appears

If coolers get any biggger we're going to need to apply for planning permission before being allowed to install them...

Looks great but it is a shame they didn't OC the memory out of the box as well.

I shudder to think how expensive this will be though - considering the XFX is over £550 on Overclockers....

The cooler looks the same as the arctic accellero extreme - which is always a good thing (if it is anywhere near the cooling performance I may be sold - as I'd happily pay 50 extra for a card if it means I don't have to pay 40 for a cooler 10 for a VRM kit & do it myself.

i think the arctic one is a 3 slot (or 2 and a half at least) so if anything it is slightly bigger / better / cooler / quieter than the gigabyte one - and keeping it to 2 slot isn't really an advantage because it still doesn't like being run in SLI/crossfire so close together so you need to space them out anyway

i love gigabyte motherboards but i think their coolers do look a bit silly :P
all gfx cards that big and expensive should come with a watercooling kit i think haha

looking forward to the midrange ati cards thats usually where ati are at their most awesome!

My 460 has a twin fan 'windforce' cooler and it's very quiet and keeps the card very cool. Would probably hold out for a Gigabyte 7950 with one of these coolers if they become available and they're not too much more than the standard one. With the chips being actively cooled as well they should OC like a BOSS!

I currently have a gigabyte 560TI 1024 and had nothing but problems with it till they released a bios flash a year after launch (the display driver has stopped responding and has recovered). The bios flash upped the voltage which made it stable.
I am personally a little weary of gigabyte at the mo.
