Hello!

I'm after a laptop for uni and I keep coming back to these two laptops.

I'm worried about the noise of the P35K and I'm not a major fan of the yellow cover on the P25W although I'm thinking about trying to put a skin over it if I do end out buying it.

However, they both suit my needs (although the P25W could be a little heavy for my 3-5 miles walk with it on my back). Does anyone own any of these and could comment on them or have any opinions on which they would get?

I'm looking at these too, I like the extra performance of the P25, but like the limness of the p35k. Decisions!

If youre considering the P25 then the MSI GX60 might be a good choice too.

Yeah if it wasn't for the noise of the P35K or the yellow lid on the P25W this would be an easier choice. The MSI looks really nice but the AMD processor is not as powerful as I would like.

Which are you leaning more towards?

I'm not finding the noise from the P35K that bad, cant comment on the other models though. If you're finding it bad, try either headphones or tuning the volume up. ;)

How's the battery life out of curiosity? I've read it's not great. I'm looking for something I can game on (specs come first) but being slim is a bonus, only there's not much point if it only lasts an hour and a half web browsing/office work type stuff!

Also, what do you think of the keyboard?

I've read mixed results with the battery life, however it seems they manage 2.5 hours or more (both of them). I wouldn't mind the noise as much but I don't want to be in class using 3DS Max or something and have the fan going crazy. That's why I was asking, it's really hard to estimate how loud it will be, I could be making a fuss over nothing.

I have just taken the plunge and bought the P35K :) looked at the P25W but did not like the yellow lid and the P35K was a tad lighter

It's spends 90% of the time plugged in, so cant really comment on battery life. Shame it cant be removed so I don't kill it, but hey what the hell.

If the P25W was on offer when I ordered the 35, I would have gone that way. But I am more than happy with the little beastie.

Quick mention on battery life, as I have a P35k-cf4

At home, just with light use with wifi on, I get close to 5hrs out of the laptop, generally with the screen on 40% and really just browsing/email/office type stuff.
I also use mine for work, and have it hooked up to the office wifi and then running VMWare virtual machine to connect into the corporate network. Generally office type workload, bit of Citrix and a whole host of Excel, SAP and so on - under these circumstances, I tend to get around 4hrs from a charge; essentially, half of my day is off charge and half is on.
Really have not spent much time gaming on it yet, so can't comment on related battery performance.

Jumping on bandwagon - Does the yellow P25W have the extra storage slots like the P35K? I am more interested in the hdd storage, so I can add my old laptop drive with all its Steam games and digital photos (external hdd too slow for transferring 1TB of stuff).

Looks like you can only have 3 storage devices, in the following configurations. The P35K has the 4th option by replacing the DVD/BluRay with an HDD.

*Supports Triple-Storage System
128/256GB mSATA SSD
128/256GB mSATA SSD + 128/256GB mSATA SSD
128GB/256GB mSATA SSD + 500GB/750GB/1TB 2.5" 9.5mm HDD 5400/7200rpm
128GB/256GB mSATA SSD + 128GB/256GB mSATA SSD + 500GB/750GB/1TB 2.5" 9.5mm HDD 5400/7200rpm

Dont look like it, but I could be wrong. The way the P35K does it, is by replacing the DVD/BluRay drive with an HDD tray.
