Calling all owners of the P45-DS4 motherboards.

Would like to see how many have em and what they getting out of them.

Things I still dont know about them.

1. Turn of speedstep??
2. Adjust memory timmings??
3. Speed up boot... any tweaks??

Stressing my currently at 435fsb but have had it boot at 475mhz.

It doesnt look like u need any help, thats good results. I cant get above 395fsb on my p35-dq6 with an e6120 which is probably what makes the difference.

Turn off speedsteep and 2 other related settings 1 being called c1e.

As for memory timings, I cant change anything at all it seems, and I read someone saying that changing all settings from auto to manual with the same settings leads to no post; which is what Ive found. Hopefully a new bios will sort this.

Ive not dwelled on it too much, got my crucial ballistix running at 1125Mhz with 1.95v so Im not complaining.

For my overclock I lowed the multiplier to x8 and then increments of 25 on the bus give a nice 200mhz jump rather than odd figures of x9.

All options to manual and it wont post... mmmm interesting could be a bug.

I dont know where to turn off speedstep.
And will look for c1e tonight.

Know if there are any hidden menus in these bioses?

Press Ctrl and F1 together on the main BIOS screen and then enter the overclocking menu to unlock the memory timings.

All the settings concerning power savings are in the same spot, once you recognise 1 setting the others are right next to it.

The Nex or No execute option Ive left enabled (its right above these three options) as its some form of anti-virus tech.

Does anybody know if there's a way to reduce the memory multiplier to less than 2.5 on this board? I have 800MHz RAM and I can't go above 320FSB without overclocking the RAM.

A few things I have discovered. I hear there is a advanced menu by pressing "CTRL-F1". Have not seen this myself but was trying combo's lastnight and this morning to find one.

To get different memory multipliers try changing the setting under.

High Speed DRAM DLL Settings.

Which is located in the "MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.)" section. You should get a multiplier of 2.0 well I do anyway.

For speedstep it's located here.
CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E)

And obviously virtulization
Virtualization Technology

Both are under the "Advanced BIOS Features" section.

I'm currently stress testing at 3.6ghz using 8 x 450 and following volts on board.
FSB OverVoltage Control : +0.20
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control : +0.300

Hi Tainted,

I've looked in there. The list I get goes Auto, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 etc. I don't have the option for 2.0. I am running the F4 BIOS.

Tainted - Those bios settings are very useful as I am trying to get my own P35-QD6 to hit 3.4 on similar hardware. I am using OCZ6400rev2 Plat and keep hitting stability probs at 3.4

So I will compare yours and my own settings to see if I can tweak further. Maybe your memory is giving you the edge? I am tempted to go and buy 2gb of OCZ 1066 Reaper kit or maybe the OCZ 1066 SLi 2gb kit. Not sure which would be the better.

Anyway, if its any help, my QD6 does have the 2.0, 2.4, 2.5, 3.0 and more dividers on the memory settings. I am not sure about the possible CTRL+F1 you mention, I will look at this tonight also.

Just thought I would add my own experiences. I am posting my results under the QD6 thread.

Update: After mulling it over, I figured that spending another £110 on a decent memory kit for just another 200Mhz is not really worth it. However the £110 plus a couple more quid will do nicely for July 22nd and a Q6600, so thats the order of the day.

Hi,

I have the DS4 and I am currently using the 2 multiplier on the F4 bios. The thing that confused me is that it wasn't listed in numerical orderso use the up and down arrow keys to scroll through all the options and it should be there.

Cheers

Doh!, I feel stupid now. The 2.0 multiplier is just a few down the list. When I looked at the list my brain just saw it as starting at 2.5 and increasing.

Thanks,
Graham
