Gigabyte P35X V5 - help!

Hi,

I recently bought the Gigabyte P35X V5 with the 4k screen from OcUK.
I am planning to write a review as soon as I get some time, but I'll say that I'm pretty happy with the laptop so far.

There is one thing that is really bothering me a lot though and I'd like to know if that is normal or a fault.
The laptop's fans are producing a loud extremely high pitched noise (apart for the usual one). It's really annoying when working in quiet places.
Is there some fix for this or do I have to just live with it?

Thanks in advance!

Hi hagn,

For sure there shouldn't be high pitch noise from the fans.

If you want to exchange the unit, then this can be done through OcUK - or you can send into service centre for them to examine and replace fans if required.

Whichever route you prefer we are happy to support.

Please let us know,

Regards,

Gigabyte NB Team

My thoughts have already been mentioned above. Laptop fans shouldn't high pitched noises!

Get hold of OcUK and they'll explain the procedure to follow next :)

Thanks for your replies. I've been busy so I didn't contact them yet, I hope it can be solved without too much trouble...

Hi Atom80, sorry for the late reply, I just didn't get to come to the forum since I posted.
Do you mean you can help me out or should I contact someone in OcUK directly?
I really hoped I can avoid having to send it back, but if that will solve the problem I am willing to do it.

Thanks!

We think safest option to give you perfect unit will be to replace with OCUK.

Sorry for inconvenience but it certainly what you should do.

Hi Atom80,

I contacted the UK Gigabyte repair centre, they said they'll take the laptop for repair, but I have to arrange and pay for the shipping myself (from the Republic of Ireland).
OcUK also doesn't cover that.
Is it really not covered by anyone, after someone spends nearly £2000 and has to be without laptop for 2-3 weeks?

Is it certain the noise issue will be solved in your experience?
I am concerned because it's not an obvious fault to detect - someone might not even hear the very high frequency noise.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Hagn,

We will contact repair centre and request they charge the carriage back to Gigabyte.

BUT - from what you now say, we are concerned that it may be NO FAULT FOUND if you say some people may not hear it,,,,

We would therefore prefer to exchange for new through OCUK to avoid any "situations".

We would then have your unit back to HQ for analysis and OCUK receive full credit.

The returns process should be followed through OCUK - we are not sure on the "rules" for Republic of Ireland but please do as OCUK request to ensure safe return.

Hi Atom80,

Thank you for the suggestion.
I don't know if I explained clearly - my concern is that high frequencies are not easy to hear for some people, plus it can only be heard in quiet places.

What should I do so in your opinion? Contact OcUK again?

Thanks and sorry for the trouble.

Do you have any info Atom80?
Should I send the laptop to OcUK or Mendit? I really wish to resolve this issue as soon as possible because it's really annoying to use the laptop :(

I am leaving this evening for a business trip and I have to decide what to do.
If I take the laptop with me I will be able to send it only in a week when I come back.

Sorry hagn, missed your last post...

If you are convinced there is something not right, and cannot really survive with the unit going to repair centre, then we suggest sending back to OcUK for exchange.

We will support / authorise this exchange and OCUK will send back to our HQ.

So yes, please contact OcUK and follow their return process. Refer their contact to this thread if needed.

Atom80 - get gigabyte/Aorus to sort a model with a single top end laptop graphics card (eg, 980M 8GB at the moment) and thunderbolt for under £1200 before the years out. That + the support shown here, you'd definitely have me getting my wallet out :p

hagn, best of luck getting the lappy sorted and sorry to borrow your thread :D

Atom80 - Thanks, I am back in office and I'll definitely go for the exchange as I discovered one more thing: I plugged in my headphones for the first time and the high pitched noise was coming really loud through them!
I was very surprised, I even tried different headphones and it happens with all of them.
At this point I suspect it's not a mechanical problem of the fan, but something else.

Mercutio - No problem, I agree that would be the perfect laptop :)
Thanks, I'll let you know when I sort this out.

Except for this problem that I'm sure will be solved, the P35X V5 is really an amazing PC, I am very happy with my choice.

Hi Atom80,

I will apparently go for the repair as I found that the exchange process requires way too much e-mails and waiting.

Could you please just tell me how the shipping charges can be covered by Gigabyte, like you mentioned in an earlier post?

Thanks.

Hello

I have just had a message from Atom that we can go ahead with a swap and a brand new replacement for you :)

Drop me a message back on the C/S forum and we can go from there.

Hi again hagn,

We would like to offer exchange for brand new unit, and will do this from our HQ stock, not OCUK. We will of course pay for collection of your existing unit.

We have requested OCUK Bailey ask your permission to pass contact details (address and phone) to us, so that we can get the process started, it will be quick, don't worry.

Please check messages from Bailey on CS thread, or simply post on here that you give permission and we can get directly from him.

Thanks and we trust this solution is better for you,

Regards,

Atom80
