Hi

I have the above motherboard (not the B3) in the pc in my sig. A few weeks ago I started to have startup issues. Sometimes the 'detecting drives' screen would pause for a couple of minutes before continuing, and windows would do the same at the Starting Windows step. Windows would usually come up in the end. This got gradually more common and I noticed that windows had stopped detecting the cd drive and a small storage hdd.

After narrowing down I'm sure the problem is the sata2 ports on the motherboard. This model has two sata3 ports which i use for my ssd and main hdd and these are functioning as normal. I have swapped things around in all manner of combinations and everything works on sata3 but not sata2.

This is not something i can work around as i have software i want to install to the main hdd on cd/dvd and i can't do this with 2 functioning ports.

Do you good people think this is a manifestation of the famous SB chipset issue, or could there be another explanation?

-I have the F5 bios.

I've emailed a support message to gigabyte, but they are taking their time to read it.

It's a good board so its a shame. I laughed off the SB issue on here when it came to light, feel a bit daft now. :)

Will they have any P67 boards to replace it with, I know gigabyte abandoned p67 very early, or will they try and repair?

I imagine they'll replace it with the same or an equivalent Z68/Z77 board depending on what they have in stock.

It's usually more trouble than it's worth to repair these things but you never know.

They have an online support form that I completed. If I do hear anything in the next day or, I'll email that address. Thanks again.
