Hi There

So I have just replaced my Asus P8P67 (which I had nothing but issues with) with a Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3.

Installed it and everything is looking good, apart from 1 issue.

I have 2 * 4GB corsair sticks of memory which I wish to run in dual channel.

The problem I have is dimm slot 1 is blocked by my CPU cooler,

I tried to put the dimms in slots 2 and 4 (in the hope it would run in dual channel) but the pc fails to boot (even to the bios splashscreen), it just keeps restarting.

I currently just have 1 * dimm in slot 2 and it runs fine (but with only 1/2 my memory and in single channel).

My question is, SHOULD it boot and run in dual channel with memory in slots 2 & 4, or does it HAVE to be in slots 1 & 3 to run in dual channel (in which case i need to solve the issue with my CPU heatsink).

Your thoughts?..........

Both memory sticks work fine, they worked on their own and as a pair in the Asus board, and also they both work on their own in the Gigabyte board.

Could it be something in the bios setting which is stopping the PC booting with the memory in slots 2 & 4? (I.E. i need to boot into the bios with 1 dimm installed, alter settings, refit the 2nd dimm and try again?).

I've got the arctic cooling freezer 7 pro, with the fan facing towards the front the case so it exhausts through the rear of the case it totally blocks slot 1,

With the fan facing upwards so it exhausts out the top of the case then you would be fine with a dimm without a heatsink, however with my corsair vengeance dimms, the heatsink still catches on the heatsink.
