Can anyone comnfirm that 4 x 1GB sticks of crucial 10th anniversary/5300 ballistix will work in this board and allow overclocking to >400fsb?

OS is win XP so only expect 3.5GB to be seen - looking to invest in vista 64 bit - IF this combo will work.

I've seen conflicting stories on various forums - has anyone here tried it? successfully? any probs?

Thanks in advance:)

Tough question this one.
As to answer 100% you need to find somebody who owns the Gigabyte P965-DS4, 4GB of Crucial RAM and overclock their FSB to 400+
There are quite a lot of variables there.

What I can however tell you is that the P965-DS4 is fine with 4x 1GB memory modules.
When I owned this motherboard I used it with 4x 1GB Geil DDR2-800 modules without any major issue.
Under Vista64 Ultimate all 4GB showed up etc.

I had 4x1gb of the PC5300 Ballistix running fine at 1000mhz (400mhz FSB) in my old P965-DS3, which is pretty much the exact same board. No problems with the combination.

A friend has the DS4, and 4 x 1 gig of geil 6400 cas 4 ram. No issues and with a 6240 chip, 8 x 400 = 3.2 gig. Easy. I will say from what ive seen, the DS3 - DS3P & DS4 all seem happy with 4 sticks, which is of some comfort.

Yep I have a gigabyte 965 ds4 with 2 gig of crucial aniversary and 2 gig of ballistix 5300 running at 450mhz. I had to loosen the timings slightly
