Gigabyte RMA process

Hi all,

Had my Gigabyte laptop go kaput right on the nose of the end of the warranty period. Took it to a laptop repair place and they are clueless as to why it has died. Refuses to post or anything.

Anyway I have opened a ticket on gigabytes RMA program. Got an e-mail to say I’ve received a response but I can’t for the life of me log back in to the RMA thing. I logged in originally using facebook and now when I try to log in the same way I get a server error screen. It’s been going on for 2 days now.

I’m kind of worried my ticket is going to end up closed and I’ll miss my opportunity for a replacement. I remembered hearing there is a Gigabyte rep here in the forums could someone point me in his direction/point him in mine?

Many thanks.

was told @Atom80 was Gigabyte rep for Gigabyte Laptop peeps but Giga-man might be able to confirm or point in right direction

Maybe try raising a ticket from a computer?
Good thing is they have a UK support centre so it should be less hassle with wait times and postage.

I did use my pc to raise the ticket. On their RMA page they have a couple of 'sign in' options including facebook, google login etc. I just used the fb one as it was nice and easy but I just cannot get back in to the ticket now.

More fool me for choosing the simple option. ;)

Alas, I am a fool and the warranty is only 2 years, not 3 as I thought.

The lady at mendit is sending me a quote for potential repairs but with it potentially being the motherboard it may end up costing more than its worth to repair!

To her credit she did say if it was a month or two out she could have blagged it. But a year is a bit much.

Bit of a bugger really. £800 for a laptop that lasts 3 years. ;/

Such is life I guess, thanks again for the help folks. Hopefully the repair bill wont be too titanic.

what was the spec of that badboy ? seems today thats what £800 get you- seems coffee-lake is a bit everywhere and not sure when they'll have a mobile version - ryzen still taking some time to hit the laptop scene too

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £860.45
(includes shipping: £10.50)

having a look around all laptops are 2 years- such a shame :(

It was a Gigabyte P15F.

Intel Core i7 4710MQ 2.5GHz, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, Nvidia GeForce GTX 850M 2GB

Cracking bit of kit actually. I originally bought it as a pc for my wife to use and occasionally play indie co-op games and the like together.

For fun I tried installing some more intense games and was blown away. That little 850M graphics card is a beast. Got it running Battlefield 4 and rocket league and a few others at acceptable frame rates.

Slapping a little MSATA SSD in there was the icing on the cake. It booted up faster than my bloody desktop!

I've been a desktop man for a long time and so kind of expected the laptop to be a bit crap all round even at that price but it really was good.

got a laptop with 960 for my old man- was surprised by it but seems now the 1050 mobile blows that out the window haha- seems Laptop GPUs have increased more in performance/heat/power/size then desktops :)
