I need to RMA my sons R9 270, the fan shroud has a very, very loud rattle eminating from it. Have placed some light pressure onto the shroud and the rattling stops. Think it could be a quick fix with replacing the fan casing.

I went to the Gigabyte RMA bit and it said to Contact the Original Seller.

Is there anyway I can avoid this? I have spoken the to eSeller before regading this issue, they were bordering on rude and not at all helpfull (not OcUK, sounds a lot like Scam).

The item is inside the warranty peroid at just under a year old.

Thanks chaps.

If they are an official supplier, then they are obliged to deal with the RMA. Kick off to Gigabyte about their refusal if they don't and Gigabyte will deal with it directly, as well as give the supplier a stern telling off.

Arse,

Ok I will suck it up and contact them, hopefully I just caught the person/s on a bad day.

Do the eSeller then send the GPU on to Gigabyte, or do they fix/repair/replace themselves?

Just wondering what the potential downtime for the GPU could be.

They would replace it themselves or send it back to Gigabyte.

You are entitled to either a repair or a replacement/refund of the appropriate value of your item. The choice is theirs to make rather than yours and at this point in the warranty i would be doubtful if many places at all would give the refund.

Nah I'm not after a refund, just a working and quiet card.

It wasn't so bad when he was just playing Minecraft but now he has Sims 4 the fans spool up more which makes more noise.

If they fix it brilliant, if they replace it brilliant.

Be authoritative Josh. It isn't working as intended, so it is their duty to replace/repair.

Will do, lesson learnt, spend an extra £10 and buy from OcUK.

I've had the unfortunate experience of dealing with that company with regards to the rma of a gtx 280 a few years ago. A brand new xfx card that failed after 8 or 9 months. Took ages to come to a resolve which involved being offered a paltry partial refund as they said they no longer stocked the 280, (despite there stock showing various models). I eventually got a gtx 275 as a replacement, this was doa. So had to wait another few weeks to eventually get a working card.

Right have emailed their support team, will update the thread as/when this gets going.

I have dealt with Gigabyte directly before, and the turn around was about a week and a half give or take.

I would try to video it, take a picture of your serial number on the card and send it over to them, they tend to be quite quick.

Both of my 270x's died at the same time, and they were replaced fairly quickly.

Not too fond of them either.

Sent my monitor back to them, for 2 weeks they claimed "they were a bit behind and they couldn't process it", and then told me I should've contacted them earlier to say it had been delivered.

I hope you get it fixed. This is why I always buy the more expensive items from OcUK. Just in case things go wrong, you know you will be looked after and not fobbed off.

Had to deal with EScammer a while ago, R9 290 was overheating a lot, was being adequately cooled by air, and was causing BSOD, crashes and shutdowns as i watched the temps and logged them.
Sent it to them, said nothing wrong, asked what conditions they were in, open test bench in an open warehouse HA HA HA. He said it was still sitting around 96-97 and crashed once, but other than that worked, never replaced, said if i send it back they would charge me for delivery, and would no doubt find nothing wrong, so i told them politely where to go and hung up.
Will certainly pay a little extra for delivery and at the time the 290 was slightly cheaper, but im not dealing with bad CS again, its just a disgrace, he spoke to me like an idiot.
From what everyone says OCUK is the one CS wise, so when buying all my shiny new bits Gibbo can have my ££ ;)
