Hi all,
I bought the above card for my son and lately there has been a loud fan noise at full fan speed - I tried using Afterburner to set a custom fan curve but it seems that this is being overridden by the Nvidia performance app as the fan speeds go over what i have set in Afterburner.

Can the Nvidia app override Afterburner and what should i do.

I set the fan curve in Afterburner to start at 20% at start and 80% at full. My sons tower is a micro ATX tower, would getting a bigger tower possible help?

Thanks in advance

Two things spring to mind.

Are you certain it is the 3060 that is ramping up the fans, not a system fan that is causing the noise?

Have you enabled the fan curve in Afterburner?

Are you sure it's the 3060 fan
Is it only when the gpu is being used heavily

The thing with gpu fans is that they can ramp up noise wise quite considerably when at full speed, and setting the fan to a lower percentage when at full usage might not be a good idea.

Hi yep its definately the GPU fan - it seems to be a vibration noise from the fan shroud because if i hold the shroud and gently hold it the noise goes away

You can try increasing the fan speed in Afterburner to a higher level to ensure that the fan speed is always at the desired level. Additionally, getting a bigger tower may help with cooling, as it will provide more space for air to circulate.

Thank you will try that - additionally there is a wifi card that sits below the card that is very close as it was the only place i could put it due to the only available pci-e slot, would that have an effect?
