problem sorted ;)

Ended up that i had a faulty motherboard and gigabyte has sorted it out.

Who cares where you purchased. Giga mega FAIL!!! Is that product not meant to be a gamers board!!! don't gamers overclock???

I am surprised they just did not tell you to find a week 18 or 29 stepping Costa chip which actually do well on 1.2v

My UP4 TH voltages seem great. Don't notice much vdrop or vdroop. My P35C-DS3R is a different story, awful vdrop and vdroop.

Have you contacted Gigabyte directly? Still under warranty?
 
Vdroop at zero LLC should occur to Intel spec and boards should Vdroop. Anything outside the Intel specification for a given CPU is unacceptable though.
 
Tbh you can set the LLC to what ever you like it doesn't make any odds unfortunately, iirc 'extreme' LLC makes matters even worse with a 0.06v droop :o

Brilliant board, the droop not so good. Doesn't help some ****** blew up his x79-UD3 a few weeks afte release prompting Giga to pretty much cripple bios level voltages.

They did not, but what they did do however was completely cripple the LLC settings. pre F7 bios you had options ranging from 0%-100% LLC, 0% giving the least amount of droop, now it seems you are hard locked to 60% despite changing the LLC settings to normal/turbo/high/extreme. As far as I'm aware the changing of LLC was part of the security measures from that turd setting fire to his UD3 :)
 
Worst case, if the first response sucks or you feel you are being fobbed off, ask for it to be reviewed by a manager, good luck with it either way.

My experience with them has been the best customer support I've ever had/heard of.

tbh i have 2 gigabyte 7970 windforce graphic cards and gigabyte ud7 and the gigabyte osmium keyboard. i have never had to return anything with rma to gigabyte in anything i have purchased from them. but this board has been bad 4 weeks after buying it and installing i7 3770k. i sold my asus rampage board to buy this that was the top end board at the time. the manager at the store that i bought it from knows all about this and they have tried to help me out as much as they can, getting me bios updates and even giving me contact to there tech-team. but out of all the time i have had this board no software that comes with it works brakeout box with overclocking one push button freezes my pc had to take it out. formatted about 30 times so its not a software issue it the bios that wont work. the giga rep guy has responded so fingers crossed hope can help me out. ;)

I sent him a message when my sniper 2 died after 3 months from new and he never replied.
giga rma was good though they sent me a new board which I sold as I had already bought a asus R4E that im still using
