Gigabyte Sniper 3 regularly hangs on splash screen

My Gigabyte Sniper 3 regularly hangs on splash screen or doesn't find the boot drive (usually from cold boot).

Do you think a battery change is in order (there's no complaint from the OS about updating the system clock)?

Could do that and see if your BIOS is upto date.

Thanks. I have the latest BIOS, which turns out to be a beta bios (I must have upgraded it, but can't recall when I did it). I'll downgrade to the previous version. I'm sure my board has a dual bios - need to figure out how to switch between them...

Dropped down to the previous BIOS version and it's been running sweetly since.
