Gigabyte SOC Champion problem

Think my boards sprung a fault, worked fine up until Friday when it wouldn't start up properly. Got the A9 error code sometimes that's well reported on various forums. Took an age to get into BIOS, nothing out of the ordinary as I don't overclock my CPU, so loading defaults only lowered the speed of my RAM.

From then on my machine just locks up during boot up with a fast loop of various error codes being displayed. Sometimes manages to get back to my desktop but freezes and displays the looping codes again within about 30 seconds so cant do anything in windows at all.

Stripped machine down twice now, only running with bare minimum kit (1 gpu, mem and 1 ssd drive) and still no joy. If the error code actually stopped on one and told me what it thought the problem was I'd be happier!
X99 boards haven't been kind to me so far! Is this another RMA??

This board has a backup BIOS, try that.

IS the board BIOS also upto date.

What are the rest of the system parts?

Disable the Page File, apply, restart and re-enable, apply. Then shut down (don't restart). And fire it up again. Had a similar issue that caused taking ages to get to BIOS and then Windows, plus things not working correctly within Windows. Worth a try.

Sorry forgot to even mention that the backup BIOS will not boot either.
System:
i7-5930
Corsair Vengeance 32GB kit (4x8)
2 x TitanX in sli
4 x Samsung Evo 840 SSD.

Danny, I cant disable page file, the system doesn't stay stable long enough before crashing out.

Have you taken any RAM out and tried just one or two sticks.

IF you get into the BIOS is it stable?

Yup, stripped to bare minimum to try and get the thing running again. So one stick in at the moment (tried diff sticks too with same result). BIOS stability is random, sometimes it hangs whilst I'm in there sometimes it allows me to make changes and save to exit.
Another thing is now my Windows 10 install has become very cheesed off at being restarted so many times during booting up, so half the time it is trying to launch the self repair, and of course never completes because the board freezes.

A9 is not an error code it just means the system is entering Bios.

Do you have the OC socket enabled?? Try with it enabled for 8gb sticks it may well help stability.

Yer I know A9 is entering BIOS, but there is a well known blank screen issue where it can get stuck on A9 and not display anything onscreen.
Tried all options on the board, nothing got it stable again.
Boards going back tomorrow I got a return authorised, cheers.

Taken from another forum:

I manage to overcome the A9 error problem. From what is explained on another forum this is a UEFI HDD Handshake that is not correctly done if the HDD is allready formated on another system or board.
To fix this, is REQUIRED that the drive is FORMATED on windows again.

The solution is a *** moment to me, but it really work... after passing all my data from my 2 partiions, i erased the partitions, clear the drive and remade the partitions, fast formating them...
And sure enough, the A9 error did not come after i tryed to enter the bios.

From what i see this "FIX" can be done to all X99 Gigabyte Board that have the same issue...

Also my strange reboots from nothing... it was an faulty sleeve cable, that for some strange reason did cause instabilities...
I have exchange all the cables and now its pretty stable!

Im now going to work out the quirks of the overclock....

But so far im pretty happy that i manage to overcome all my problems...

________

Personally I am loving my Champion board and have had no issues.

:)
