just been glansing over the manual befor i buy, it says something along the lines of...

"The PCIEX8_1 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX16_2 slot. When PCIEX8_1 is populated
with a PCI Express graphics card, the PCIEX16_2 slot will operate at up to x8 mode"

does this also count for a PCI (not PCI-E) soundcard? or can i potentialy have two graphics cards runing at 16x and the sound card at 8x?

cheres.

It's doe'snt effect the PCI slot speed, if you had 2 graphics cards in there which would almost certainly be double height cards the PCI slots would be covered and unusable anyway.

well i dont think this to be true as in the manual:

it shows that after two graphics cards are inserted, PCI 1 and PCI 2 are indeed lost to us, but at the bottom, PCIE8_1 is free.

this being the case i go back to my origonal question at post #1

You confused me i thought you were talking about a PCI sound card. I've never heard of anyone using a a PCI-E slot intended for graphics card with a sound card inserted, not saying it's not possible but i don't think it is. People use the 1x and 4x slots on the Mobo.

i think i understand now, i think if i wanted a sound card aswell as dual graphics at 16x16x then i think i have to change from the PCI X-Fi extreme gamer to something like the Asus Xonar D2X (which looks like it will fit into the PCIE_1 slot)

correct?

p.c. sorry for all this confution lol.
