As the title suggests, I have an issue with a Gigabyte X570S Master, the LAN port doesn't appear to be working, I'm getting no lights on the back at all, tried various bioses from what's available, various drivers, from both gigabyte website and intel website.

The bios can see the controller and assigned it a Mac address, but the physical port doesn't detect any cable plugged in, the same issue in windows, and again no lights flashing or working on the port.

Anyone have any suggestions of what I could try next before I send the board back ?
The controller is an Intel I225-v 2.5ghz LAN, the WiFi is working fine.

TIA

Is the adapter all present and correct in Device Manager in Windows? There should also be a message in Event Viewer near the beginning of the boot indicating a network link has been established.

Have you tried different cables and switch ports?

No, the controller is there though, and yes ive tried different cables, no different, I'll check event viewer when I get home, thanks.

Does the gigabyte rep still hang around these forums ?

No, the controller is there though,

So by this you mean the adapter is in Device Manager without any question marks (Device status = "This device is working properly." in properties), but there is no link up message in event viewer?

If you disable and then reenable the adapter in device manager do you get anything in event viewer?

Yes it's there in device manager, and does state the device is working properly, I've not had a chance to check event viewer yet, I'll be at work until about 10pn tonight.

In all honesty, the controller is just a chip on the motherboard, the way it appears to me just by looking at it, I'd say the physical port is faulty, in the bios it states it can see it and working, but rewlgardless of having a cable plugged in it, it still states disconnected, it's the same situation in windows, I'll post some pictures later.

This is what ive got in Windows, however, see the last picture for something ive just picked up on, im not sure what it means by device requires further installation, I also ran an Intel test and the results are pictured below too, firmware is up to date, 1.45.
Although everything says not connected, the cable is connected and confirmed working with my laptop.

fixed it, all working now, ended up reformatting, and it turned out to be the one thing I should have checked in the beginning, a pin in the LAN socket was bent, simply bent it back with a needle.

OK, so a bit of an update, the LAN port went out again last night, so I decided to do a bit of studying into it, turns out previously lots of people have had problems with it, anyway, I noticed it was quite common to flash the firmware for the LAN port, as Gigabyte dont supply the firmware for the port on this motherboard, I managed to find it for a Gigabyte Master Z490 board, upon opening it it stated my current firmware version was 0.00 and the update was 1.45, so I updated it, the worst part is previously it had told me the firmware was 1.45 on my port, so something is going on with it, ive never had to flash firmware on an LAN port in my life.

After shutting down for 30 seconds and removing all power, when I rebooted, windows could once again see the LAN port, but still not working, so I started googling again and stumbled on another thread, it said that even Intel admit that the 2.5ghz port isnt reliable and to set power saving option off in the driver, but also force speed and duplex mode to 1ghz rather than 2.5ghz, a reboot later and it started working.

just thought id update this thread in case anyone ever experiences the same issues that ive had.
