Hi all,

I recently transferred the components of my old pc into a new case. The 'new' build worked fine for a week. However, the first time I booted it up on Friday it failed to POST, and went into an on/off loop stopping with Error Code 26h. The manual states that this is:

1. If Early_Init_Onboard_Generator is not defined Onboard clock generator initialization. Disable respective clock resource to empty PCI & DIMM slots
2. Init onboard PWM
3. Init onboard H/W monitor devices

After reseating the RAM/GFX card/checking the power cables were firmly in place, the system booted without any problems. It ran for most of the day yesterday without any problems.

Flash forward to this afternoon - I went to turn it on and was presented with Error 26h again... After a few attempts at restarting, and after turning the PSU on and off, the board POSTed, and has since been working fine... A quick google suggests that power might be the cause of the problem, but all voltages are reported as being OK in the BIOS. I'll give memtest a go later on today.

Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

tried gpu in second pci-e slot? tested with another psu? what make/model psu? ive seens a few issues with ocz psu's and gigabyte boards

I haven't tried the GPU in the second slot - I will give that a go (although probably not this evening).

PSU is a BeQuiet DarkPower modular 650w - its a couple of years old, but at the time I think they received positive comments/write-ups. As above, BIOS reporting of voltages (perhaps not the most reliable, but best I'm going to get without hooking up a multimeter) suggest all voltages are correct. Unfortunately I don't have a spare PSU lying around. I'll try a few other things first

Booted up a few minutes a go without any issues - this really is an intermittent/frustrating problem! :(

could be a loose connection somwhere so check all your cables, makesure everything is seated correctly ect
