I have purchased the above motherboard and 16gb of the following memory while it was on special a few days back.

I had hoped to get a 3930k wether it be new or used but i really don't think funds will allow so what do you good folk reccomend?

Will be used primarily for folding/crunching and the occassional game not decided on gpu yet am more interested in getting a cpu solution sorted. I have been reading through ivybridge threads and am a bit put off by seemingly high temps but it will be underwater so hopefully temps should be fairly reasonable.

Would probably be looking to overclock to 4.2-4.4 stability is more important than overclocked speed.

Point me in the right direction peeps would appreciate your input :)

Thanks for your input nalla, Kaapstad and pgi947 hmmm looks liek a wallet busting 3930k then unless as pgi suggests i go the economy route with a 3820 ...... off to raid piggy bank :(

Thanks very much for your imput again pgi947, bemaniac , pecnark and Kaapstad think i will try shift a few excess items on mm and go all out for the 3930 yup the 3820 would have been economical and a "get me by" cpu but still a nice chip although i know myself too well after a few days i would be saying "why the hell didn't you go all out and get the 3930k ya muppet" especially with the last comment "The 3930 is also a lot more straight forward to oc" that won me over cheers Kaapstad :)

Well i had set my mind on a 3930k but as luck would have it i did not have the funds and i got a but impatient. I ordered a 3820 to go with the gigabyte. What nobody told me was the mobo is not compatable with the cpu out of the box it needs a bios update, couple that with some dody ram and that was the longest 24 hours of my life.
All up and running now at stock will leave the overclocking till another day but am liking the temps with the cpu at full load :)

Am useing a lian li armorsuit at the minute with a 140.3 just cooling the cpu overkill i know but untill i get around to building a rad box and cooling the graphics it'll do me :)

Sorry should have explained that a bit better, the 3 intake fans at the front of the case are drawing cool air directly onto the rad which is fixed upright with 6 yate loons in push/pull and an ek supreme hf cpu block :)
