Gigabyte X79 UP4 processor trouble

Hi all,

I have a Gigabyte X79 UP4 which is not liking a core i7 4930k - it's just stuck in a boot loop with it. However, a while ago (the board was in storage for a bit) it was running fine with a 3820. Is it possible that the board had a BIOS that would run the 3820 but not the 4930k, or is it likely to be something else?

Its likely to be the BIOS update as you mentioned.

Gigabyte uk I think do a collect and return service and will sort it out for you.

Thing that has me worried is that, on the website, it says both chips were supported since BIOS F4. I'm a bit surprised by that as the 4930k is a much later chip than the 3820.

See what gigabyte has to say about it.

Their customer support is decent.
