Gigabyte X99m Gaming 5 not starting, error 6F

Looking at it again, yes I'd say it's "bF" rather than "6F". I've now tried all 4 memory modules in slot DDR4_2_B, the 1 module slot, and I still get the same error. The manual says error "bF" is Reserved.

Guess I'll call Gigabyte tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone for the help and advice.

well, I've just got the Asrock x99m board, and I'm getting the same error code - bF. looking online at a more generic x99 bf error, it could be either memory or CPU memory controller.

On one stick I did get the Bios up once, but I foolishly then added another stick and I've had nothing ever since. If I could get to the bios again I could try upping the ram voltage a bit and flash to the latest version, to see if that helps....

I'm not sure what to do next, I guess I need to test another stick out, something slower than I have maybe I don't know. Failing that, I guess I'll RMA the CPU.

Just a note the BF LED code is not actually an error. They are steps. If you look in the Gigabyte manual on P116 you will see they are not described as errors. Basically it means it got to BF then stopped. Doesnt help I know.

However reason why it says BF reserved will be because the manual has not been updated. It will probably be aimed at the release BIOS so if you have a later BIOS this will explain it.

It's taken me a while but this is now resolved. Posting so if anyone else gets the error, it may help.

It was incompatible DDR4. I borrowed another DDR4 stick, and booted fine. The mobo had v3 of the BIOS. Flashed to the latest (I think v4d off the top of my head), swapped back to me 2x16gb sticks, and it worked fine.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to give guidance on this.
