Hexus:
“Gigabyte realises there's a small but useful market in retailing micro-ATX boards based on this leading-edge chipset, and chooses the mid-pack Gaming 5 as the base blueprint. Layout is of more importance when the socket is so large, as is definitely the case with X99, and Gigabyte does a good job in working around the massive X99 obstacle for this micro-ATX form factor.”

bit-tech:
“It's superb value, has nearly everything you could want from an X99 board and it doesn't take too many risks with the aesthetics either. The EFI needs some work and it's more suited to water-cooled or single GPU setups but it's the perfect partner for a micro-ATX X99 system. In many ways it's a better offering than either of the other micro-ATX X99 boards we've tested too. It has better cooling than both, dual M.2 ports and SATA Express plus a 1x PCI-E slot while the onboard audio is respectable too.”

KitGuru:
“In the X99M-Gaming 5, Gigabyte has designed a motherboard that will tick many of the boxes for micro ATX enthusiasts. There’s support for two full-bandwidth graphics cards, and even flexibility with their positioning in a 5-slot chassis. And then there’s the array of storage options and enhanced audio system. Importantly, Gigabyte provides a strong voltage delivery system that allows the X99M-Gaming 5 to remain competitive when overclocking power-hungry Haswell-E chips. (…)
KitGuru says: A positive mATX solution which proves that little compromise has to be made when downsizing from ATX, even on the X99 platform.”

Vortez:
“Performance wise, the GA-X99M-Gaming 5 excelled, especially in terms of memory performance where it often led the pack. What surprised us most was the overclocking potential this motherboard possesses. Hitting 4.9GHz and booting at 5.0GHz with less voltage than some of the other dedicated overclocking motherboards we have tested (…)
GIGABYTE have appealed to the majority by creating a motherboard that not only looks great, performs great and has audio capabilities to make most green with envy but it also encompasses copious amounts of storage and peripheral expansion. We loved it (…)
If you like you audio loud, your gaming fast yet prefer your desktop real estate is not the biggest then the GA-X99M-Gaming 5 should be top of your mATX motherboard list.”

This thread is perfectly fine.

Dave, OCUK sell those products......

These days most motherboards are all closely matched in terms of feature sets and overclocking ability if I were Gigabyte I would look to make a bigger deal out of their support, warranty and RMA handling in order to stand out against it's competitors who frankly have god awful support.
