Gigabyte z170m-d3h speedstep stopped working!

booted pc as normal noticed speed step no longer clocks the CPU down, even in the bios the CPU runs flat out... tried setting back to default but no joy

the cpu is a i7 6700k

Any suggestions?

guessing when you say default as in Load Default option and reboot?

only thing I can think of is pulling the battery to clear the board.
Then checking C1E and Speed Step are enabled and not auto

Any bios updates been added before you noticed the Speed step not working ?

worked for older gen boards

in windows go to control panel -> system and security ->power options -> change plan settings (on your current power plan) -> change advanced settings -> check to make sure minimum processor state (under processor power management) is not at 100% (I just put mine at 0%).

worked it out min power state in the power profile for the CPU was 5%,had to set it to 0%... I never touched the option it must ahve changed itself...
